Mechanical Engineering Specialist

Description Arconic has an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Engineering Specialist to work with Arconic's Global Rolled Products and Extrusions (GRPE) Manufacturing Technology group.
The Mechanical Engineering Specialist will provide expert consulting service, advice, and on-site support in the areas of thermal processing, thermal equipment, and combustion safety across the GRPE system.
In addition, they will support additional Mechanical Engineering projects inside of the Finishing Processing areas.
The GRPE Manufacturing Technology group is responsible for process improvement, equipment troubleshooting, automation and smart manufacturing, standard practice implementation, and major capital projects.
This is a key role in the global Manufacturing Technology organization within the Global Rolled Products and Extrusion business group of Arconic Inc.
This business group has several domestic and international locations in which the Mechanical Engineering Specialist will support.
The incumbent will be required to act with a high degree of autonomy in the performance of assignments.
The successful candidate will be located in the Knoxville, Tennessee area.
Primary
Responsibilities:
Solve difficult process and equipment problems for all Arconic's Global Rolled Products and Extrusions locations, with a focus on thermal equipment and associated processes.
Lead technical input of problem-solving teams and aid in identifying improvement opportunities and facilitating technology transfer.
Advise/counsel on failure analysis; Participate in problem solving teams, identification of root cause and solutions.
Organize support from other resources.
Optimization of thermal processes for improving safety, quality, reliability, and throughput.
Provide technical direction and review for large capital projects.
Provide installation, commissioning and startup support for major thermal projects.
Sponsor, participate, and lead process development projects.
Conduct technical assessments of facilities or individual pieces of equipment.
Provide training to plant resources on thermal processes and equipment.
Maintain a working relationship with suppliers of major process equipment and be knowledgeable of the most recent developments in all aspects of thermal processes and equipment.
Serve as the corporate expert on thermal processes and combustion safety Note:
