Communications Specialist

Arconic is currentlyin search of a?Communications?Specialist?to join ourglobal Rolled Products (GRP), business unit in Alcoa, TN.?Arconic?sTennessee Operations is one of the most modern aluminum fabricating facilitiesin the world. Our plants produce high-quality molten metal and aluminum sheetfor the automotive and industrial markets and are recognized as a world leaderin the business. The facility has been located at the Foothills of the GreatSmoky Mountains for 100 years and continues to thrive and grow.?


The Communications Specialist supportsplant and business objectives by ensuring that we provide frequent andconsistent communication to employees through a wide variety of channels. Thisrole engages regularly with employees at all levels in the organization,including hourly, salaried, management, etc, while staying in touch withbusiness unit and corporate communication resources to ensure alignment andconsistent messaging across Arconic. The Communication Specialist will alsosupport key external communication activities, including grantmaking andemployee volunteer initiatives.


The Communication Specialist will beexpected to have a regular presence on the plant floor, while maintainingregular involvement in internal and external events and organizations.


Responsibilities:


  • Create internal messaging strategy related to culture change in support of employees; understanding whether messaging is effectively delivered/understood on the shop floor; employee engagement initiatives; corporate communications; business continuity planning; key labor relations issues; capital projects and expansions; etc.;

  • Participate in and contribute to several plant-wide employee engagement initiatives including new employee orientation, community volunteering activities and Employee Resource Group and STEM Council outreach;

  • Create, edit and disseminate employee newsletter, Topics, under the direction of Communication and Public Affairs Manager;

  • Organize and lead significant events and celebrations, selected media relations events, etc.;

  • Organize and prepare information for Communication Meetings, including messaging and slide presentations monthly department meetings and?town hall meetings conducted by plant leadership team;

  • Represent Arconic as needed in the community (Chamber/key non-profit organizations);

  • Serve as location archivist and retrieval source for internal articles, media articles, photos, videos and other items of business and historical relevance.

Qualifications


Basic Qualifications:


  • Bachelor?s degree from an accredited institution;

  • Minimum 5?years of experience in internal or external communications involving employee interaction and writing experience;

  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position;

  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), which requires U.S. person status, ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. ?Green Card Holder?), Political Asylee, or Refugee.


PreferredQualifications:



  • Bachelor?s degree inBusiness, Mass Communications, Marketing, Information Technology, ComputerScience, or a related field from an accredited institution;

  • Prior experience as aninternal or external communications lead at a mid-to-large manufacturingfacility;

  • Demonstrated abilityto work well with teams in a matrix organization;

  • Demonstratedexperience in media relations, understanding media strategies and techniques;

  • Prior experience usingsocial media in a business context;

  • Strong writing skillsacross all media (print, web, presentations, etc.);

  • Experience inphotography and videography;

  • Expert proofreadingskills and knowledge of AP style;

  • Advanced computerskills (Oracle, MS Office, Web, Avid Media Composer, Adobe; and graphicdesigner, including Design Studio, programming).


 

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
